About Us
2025-2026 Gender-Based Violence and Reproductive Justice Committee Mission Statement: PHR SAB's Gender-Based Violence and Reproductive Justice Committee aims to empower medical students to advocate for reproductive health and provide care that is equitable, inclusive, comprehensive and evidence-based. This committee works to create frameworks and initiatives that support PHR’s goals “to impunity for sexual violence and to bring justice to survivors” and to protect “the right to reproductive autonomy and health”.
Goals:
-> update committee educational materials
-> create legal status tracker — tool for students to visualize rapidly changing legislation in this space
-> resources for the intersection of environmental health and reproductive justice
Goals for 2025-26
Our major goal this year is to update and add to the module series on reproductive health and advocacy. We hope to build upon the modules by creating more topics, including a case-based series on how to care for patient's with FGC/M that we have already begun working on. In addition, our hope is to refine the work already done to ensure current modules are more user friendly.
Other topics we discussed being able to put into action this year is potentially adding a toolbox to the website with two tools of note we thought would be helpful:
1. legal status tracker: tool for students to visualize rapidly changing legislation
2. resource toolkit: place to find resources on the intersection between environmental health and reproductive justice
